How You Can Be Involved in Michigan Elections

In Michigan, there are three kinds of roles for citizens to help with elections:

  1. Election Inspectors -- a paid position, hired by clerks.

  2. Election challengers -- a volunteer role requiring training from a political party or other qualified interest group.

  3. Poll watchers -- any citizen is allowed to observe from a public viewing area at a voting location but he/she is subject to the authority of election inspectors at the site.
